Can You Track A UPS Truck

As many people would say, tracking a UPS truck would be a very useful feature. You could know when your package would reach you. That way, you could receive important mail or packages directly, and at least stand a better chance against porch pirates.

Well, this feature is technically available through the UPS app and for UPS My choice customers.

Practically speaking, UPS no longer offers a service to track a truck.

UPS ‘Follow My Delivery’ Service And Issues

A few years ago (2016), UPS launched the Follow My Delivery service for customers. When using this service, the UPS systems would show the movements of the delivery truck carrying a package.

Theoretically, it’s an excellent way to track your package and manage your time. With live tracking of the truck, you could have a fairly good idea on the location of the truck and thus the delivery of your package.

The “Follow My Delivery” service was available for UPS MyChoice members and could be accessed through the app, or through a computer.

However, the app no longer shows this option, and if you visit the page on a computer, it will tell you that “Your Follow My Delivery live map is no longer available…”

So, what’s going on?

Issues And Speculation About Tracking A UPS Truck

It appears that UPS doesn’t show the “Follow my Delivery” service to most users. However, some users may occasionally see the option become available, while some might see it when the truck is within a small distance or close to delivery.

There is no word from UPS, but it appears the service is no longer available.

Now this is speculation, but many UPS delivery drivers were unhappy with this service. Turns out, a lot of customers are impatient. So, rather than waiting for their delivery, some customers would go/drive to the UPS truck and demand their package/delivery.

Of course, the UPS delivery truck drivers couldn’t often acknowledge such requests. The truck might be full with no way to retrieve a specific package, customers could be disrupting drivers’ rounds, and similar issues. This would often lead to trouble for the drivers or disturbance to their work.

Whatever be the merits of this speculation, the fact is that UPS no longer offers a credible way to track a delivery truck.
